CHURCH MUSEUM

Museo de la Iglesia

The San Javier Parish Museum is located in the Temple of San Francisco Javier, right and behind the chancel of the same. His visit and the Temple itself, is a window on the origin of the people themselves, because in principle, early decades of the seventeenth century, was a chapel dedicated to St. Mission, built by a devotee of it, to give worship and veneration.

The Parish Museum comes upon the expiration of three hundred years since the founding of the parish (29-9-1998), by desire of the Council of the Parish Pastoral as a tribute and recognition to the population that has lived humbly under their Parish Church , whose legacy has been humble.

In room A are significant series of vestments for the seventeenth century, made by one of the first pastors, the medals, awards and ceremonial objects belonging to famous priests.

In room B, highlight the small images, carved, mostly in wood and polychrome stewed, shown in the windows, and the Baptistery, formed by a marble baptismal font Macael, crowned by a wooden shrine, serving as a closet to keep the elements of baptism, after each meeting.

Finally, the visit culminates with the ascent to the chapel of the Holy, by a comfortable staircase with railing of the eighteenth century, whose side walls are some pieces of great beauty, sacred, pictures, banner, etc., And upper part, into the dressing room, an image of San Antonio, wood pulp, Olot, very closely linked to the history of our parish. Also shown is a tabernacle of great beauty, which is installed at the Monument of Holy Thursday.

Would be incomplete if the visit to the Museum is not made a journey along the various chapels of the temple, where you can see images and altarpieces of great beauty.
